The ManagdWALplus app is constructed to fit a very specific need:

Web content provisioning where organizations own or run dedicated information kiosks for presenting information 24x7x36 allways-on with screensaving (and hence powersaving capabilities) in cases where a standard web browser will offer too much flexibility and too little control over the use of the web pages. And where you as the hosting organization of ManagdWALplus can make the user experience extremely simple, with iPads running in kiosk mode. Supporting autonomous single app mode, with temporary admin login breakout from single app mode to local settings, if need be, with indivdually remotely settable password, and automatic re-enabling of single app mode on return from local settings.

The user will only be presented a limited number of selectable web startup pages. A tunable timer will start screensaving, if enabled. And when in screensave, an optional “revert to starup web content” timer can be triggered as well, securing a defined startup point for every user returning to the iPad.

You as a hosting organization can tailor the web content access experience werey tightly, remotely controlled, and potentially on a per-device basis. With simple usage logging, if you enable this feature. And of yourse, with full customizability. All this happes using standard components in other respects, such as MDM systems pushing settings to ManagdWALplus, and Logstash-type logging servers to ascertain that the ManagdWALplus is up and running. With tight iOS integration, tapping into vital information such as battery level (and hence whether the iPad is disconnected from power and running low on battery) and memory usage.

In fact, even before the app reaches the shelves of the Apple App Store, one major educational enterprise have eagerly been anticipating it, planning to use it on 300 on its laboratories, presenting often updated security information to the users of the labs.

In fact, we are proud to say that the ManagdWALplus is a unique app, så far unparallelled in the market.

As installed from Apples app store, ManagdWALplus primarily gives access to this information, answering questions such as what the app is, its intended audience, demonstrating the supersimple end-user perspective, offering over 90% of screen space to content, all the time. The development of the app started in the Summer of 2019, and has commenced in close cooperation with a major public enterprise, which did not find an acceptable solutions using todays commercial browsers, and is now (per mid-June 2020) eagerly awaiting approval from Apple review board.

Customes range from laboratories (with an absolute no-go for personal ICT equipment on-lab) to industri (with explosion-proof viewing tablets) and including museums and others looking for a tamper-proof and robust information kiosk.

There are a few steps to get going:

1. Edit and publish the information on a web site.
2. Enroll the intended iPads or iPhone devices into a EMM/MDM/MAM/UEM system (a).
3. (Optionally) configure a logging system, to receive periodic status messages (b)
4. Make a XML file with the appropriate ManagdWAL settings, referring to the web content, using our XML key/value index and/or XML examples (c)
5. Push the ManagdWALplus app with the XML file (-s) to the device (-s), using the EMM/MDM/MAM/UEM system.
6. Update the content and the settings of the XML file at will.

Notes:

(a) Multimedia playback and PDF file display among others is supported in the app given the possibilities and constraints of an embedded WKWebView browsing experience,.

(b) ManagdWALplus has been tested with both ManageEngine MDM Manager as well as Microsoft Intune.

(c) Since all settings have defaults embedded into the system, XML files can be quite short, or conversely very long to unleash the full potential of the different settings. Note that the initial customer is using a Logstash logging system to receive “heart beat” log messages from the ManagdWAL app, you may do the same if you choose.

(d) Content and settings can be tailored to cover all devices in a “one size fits all” fashion, of suiting different group or indivudual needs.
